Structured breathing programs to build consistency and unlock rewards
Challenges are structured breathing programs with daily, weekly, or milestone-based goals. They help you build consistency, explore new techniques, and earn rewards. Respiro includes 24 challenges across 6 types — 10 free and 14 for Pro members, with 10 secret challenges to discover.

Page Layout
The Challenges page opens with Oxy in a focused mood and your active challenge (if any) at the top. Below that, featured challenges are highlighted in larger cards, followed by an info section explaining how challenges work. The rest of the page organizes challenges by type — daily, weekly, streak, variety, duration, and special — with completed challenges and secret challenges at the bottom.
Active Challenge
You can have one active challenge at a time. Your active challenge appears at the top of the page in a prominent card showing:
- Challenge icon and name with an "Active" badge
- Description of the challenge goal
- Progress bar color-coded to the challenge, with current / target count (e.g. "3 / 7 sessions")
- Challenge type label (daily, weekly, streak, etc.)
When you complete all goals, the challenge is marked as completed. You can also abandon a challenge through a confirmation dialog if you want to start a different one.
How Challenges Work
- Browse: Scroll through available challenges organized by type, or look at featured picks at the top
- Choose: Tap a challenge card to open its detail dialog with the full description, goal requirements, reward, and type
- Join: Tap "Join Challenge" to activate it — your progress starts tracking automatically with each session
- Complete: Meet the challenge goal to earn your reward (badge, achievement, title, or streak shield)
Challenge Types
Challenges are organized into 6 types, each with a different focus:
- Daily: Complete a set number of sessions or minutes within a single day
- Weekly: Achieve a goal over the course of a week (e.g. 7 sessions in 7 days)
- Streak: Maintain a consecutive-day practice streak (e.g. 7-day or 14-day streak)
- Variety: Try a set number of different breathing templates to broaden your practice
- Duration: Accumulate total breathing minutes across sessions
- Special: Unique challenges with specific conditions (e.g. complete a session with a particular technique)

Free Challenges (10)
All users have access to 10 challenges to get started:
- Triple Breath: Complete 3 breathing sessions in one day (Daily)
- Quarter Hour: Accumulate 15 minutes of breathing in a single day (Daily)
- Hour Power: Reach 60 total breathing minutes (Duration)
- Deep Dive: Complete a 10+ minute breathing session (Special)
- Early Bird Week: Complete 5 sessions before 8 AM in one week (Weekly)
Plus 5 additional free challenges covering streak, variety, and duration goals.
Pro Challenges (14) PRO
Pro members unlock 14 additional challenges including all 6 types. Pro challenges have more ambitious goals and exclusive rewards such as special titles and streak shields.
Among the Pro challenges, 10 are secret — their names and goals are hidden until discovered. Secret challenges show as locked cards with a question mark icon and a hint about how to unlock them.
Goal Types
Each challenge tracks progress toward one of 5 goal types:
- Sessions: Complete a target number of breathing sessions
- Minutes: Accumulate a target number of breathing minutes
- Streak: Maintain a consecutive-day streak of a certain length
- Templates: Try a set number of different breathing templates
- Specific template: Complete sessions using a particular breathing technique
Progress is tracked automatically — every completed breathing session updates all active and applicable challenge goals.
Rewards
Completing a challenge earns you a reward. There are 4 reward types:
- Badges: Visual badges displayed on your profile and in the Achievements section
- Achievements: Specific achievements that unlock in your Stats page
- Titles: Special titles you can display on your profile PRO
- Streak Shield: Protects your streak from resetting if you miss a day PRO

Challenge Cards
Each challenge is displayed as a card with 3 visual variants:
- Default: Standard card with icon, name, description, type label, and reward preview
- Compact: Smaller card used in the Stats page challenges preview section
- Featured: Larger card with more detail, used at the top of the page for recommended challenges
Tapping any card opens the challenge detail dialog with the full description, goal requirements, reward details, and a "Join Challenge" button (or progress bar if already active).
Secret Challenges PRO
10 secret challenges are hidden throughout the app for Pro members. They appear as locked cards with a mystery icon and a short hint about how to discover them. Once you meet the secret condition, the challenge reveals itself and you can join it.
Secret challenges have unique rewards that aren't available through regular challenges, making them a special part of the Respiro experience for dedicated practitioners.
Completed Challenges
All finished challenges appear in a "Completed" section at the bottom. Each completed card shows a checkmark, the earned reward, and the option to share your achievement through a share dialog. You can revisit completed challenge details at any time.
Data & Sync
Challenge progress is saved locally and syncs across your devices when signed in via Cloud Sync. Your active challenge, progress, and completed challenges are all preserved — so you can switch between phone, tablet, and desktop without losing any progress.
Free vs Pro
All users can participate in challenges. Pro members unlock the full experience:
- Free: 10 challenges covering daily, weekly, and basic goals
- Pro: All 24 challenges including 10 secret challenges, exclusive reward types (titles, streak shields), and all 6 challenge types
